DuuuooDeeenal What?

Duodenal Switch. It's the surgery I'm having for weight loss. The surgeon I've chosen is Dr. Joao Marchesini in Curitiba, Brazil. You can read about the surgery here

Check out the city of Curitiba

FAQ:
What is a duodenal switch (DS)?

Duodenal switch is a weight loss surgery proposed by Hess and originated from the biliopancreatic diversion invented by Scopinaro that is a combined procedure. There is a restrictive component, which is a gastric sleeve resection (gastrectomy)(VSG) and a malabsorptive component, which is a small bowel bypass. The intestine part of this operation is the most important one. It is the operation that produces the greatest and longest standing weight loss.

Why having DS in Brazil?

Because it is cheaper, it is safe and the hospital facilities are similar to those of the developed Countries. Beside these advantages, the surgeon has credentials recognized and accepted in the United States of America.
